What has long been standard for heavy motocross machines is now making its way into the eMTB workshop with the MXstyle: The maintenance stand from DRAGONWORKS is specifically designed for eBikes with mid-drive motors. We took a close look at the MXstyle, and discovered the concept behind the bike stand for eBikes.

Oiling the chain, removing the rear wheel, or adjusting the derailleur – with an eBike, this usually means either turning the bike upside down, or dragging out and setting up a bulky maintenance stand – annoying! A full-fledged maintenance stand, like the Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD, often takes up a lot of space and is somewhat cumbersome to handle if you just want to quickly perform chain maintenance. Moreover, it’s not exactly cheap. The solution to the problem? Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, and can look to existing solutions. This is what two bikers from the Czech Republic thought when they designed the MXstyle, a bike stand for ebikes in the style of a motocross maintenance block. How well does it work? Find out here!

Get Up, Stand Up – The MXstyle Bike Stand for ebikes in Detail

The name says it all: With the MXstyle, you get a bike stand for ebikes with a motocross (MX) maintenance block look. At around € 80, the MXstyle is a bargain compared to a fully-fledged maintenance stand, even though it might seem pricey for a bit of steel. Delivered in a disassembled form, the assembly is straightforward and can be completed in a few steps. Once set up, the compact MXstyle is stable on uneven ground. The front wheel mount of the bike stand for ebikes is 70 mm wide, and the length is adjustable to ensure the motor sits properly on the rubberised support surface. Additionally, the front wheel is secured in the mount with a red rubber band to prevent it from slipping out during more intensive maintenance work. With a maximum load capacity of 35 kg, you should be able to place almost any bike on this stand. In our recent SUV ebike test, the heaviest contender weighed 34.2 kg, so it would still be within the limit. However, a bike of this weight class is rather an exception.

Stable, stylish, and practical – what more could you want?
The red rubber band helps secure the front wheel in the holder, preventing the bike from rolling off the stand.
The front wheel holder can be easily adjusted with the small lever.

Ebike Pit Stop – The DRAGONWORKS MXstyle in Test

In Formula 1, a pit stop takes an average of 2.5 seconds. Our ebike was set up on the MXstyle almost as quickly. Once on the stand, the rear wheel hovers freely in the air, and the pedals can be turned. This makes rear wheel removal, chain maintenance, and minor adjustments very convenient. While certain larger tasks like rear suspension or brake service are also possible with the MXstyle, it’s too low for most people to work on comfortably for any length of time, without back pain. The ebike stand is suitable for tires up to 2.8 inches wide, according to DRAGONWORKS. However, in our test, we had issues with a 2.6” Specialized Butcher tire. Therefore, it is best to measure the exact width of your front tire – depending on the width of the rim, the tire might not measure up to the manufacturer’s specifications. Due to its design, complex maintenance tasks that require removing the motor, fork, or front wheel are not possible with the MXstyle. For these, you will need a large maintenance stand. The MXstyle should therefore be seen not as a full replacement for a maintenance stand, but as a small assistant for quick cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Need somewhere to store your pride and joy, now that it’s clean? The MXstyle can help there too. The simple, stylish design means that you can also use it as a display stand – we thought it looked great holding our e-mountainbike comparison test winner at EUROBIKE! Anyone who doesn’t have the space or desire to set up a large repair stand after a strenuous ride to maintain their chain or adjust the gears will find the MXstyle very convenient. Unlike fully-fledged repair stands, you don’t have to lift your heavy ebike and clamp the seat post, which thus avoids potential hernias and scratches. For everyday cleaning and maintenance tasks, the MXstyle ebike stand is a quick and easy option. However, for more complex maintenance tasks, a large repair stand remains the best option for your ebike workshop.

Chain maintenance made easy! With the MXstyle, it’s easy to give your bike a quick tune-up after a hard ride.

The MXstyle bike stand for ebikes is a stylish and practical solution for basic maintenance and storage. For € 79, you get a stable, easy-to-assemble stand that works with a wide range of bikes, all the way up to 35 kg. While it can’t help with more complex tasks, the compact design and easy setup make the MXstyle ideal for everyday maintenance work, and the styling makes it a cool home accessory.
